Don't worry, I am working on it! Edits on BML are taking longer than planned but it'll be out soon.
I glance around the bustling sidewalk. One of these people has to know which way to go.
People shove past us, rushing to wherever they’re trying to go. Lots have earbuds shoved in their ears or have their eyes glued to their phones. I try to get the attention of several of them, but none bother to look up.
I frown. Okay, so this might be harder than I thought. Walking up behind someone, I tap their shoulder. The person glares at me and keeps walking. Rude. I try again, tapping someone else.
She pulls her earbud out. “What?”
“You wouldn’t happen to know how to get to the library from here, would you?” I ask.
She shakes her head and continues on.
Load of help she was.
My next few attempts are just as unsuccessful. Some people ignore me while others look at me like I’m stupid. A few shake their heads or tell me no.
“Don’t you have a phone?” the guy I just asked asks me.
I sigh. “Yes, but it’s dead.”
He snorts. “Sounds like a you problem.”
I scoff as he walks away. Seriously? What a jerk.
“Any luck?” Leo asks.
I turn and shake my head. “You?”
“No,” he replies. “We aren't getting anywhere.”
I nod. “You can say that again.”
“Let’s change tactics,” he suggests.
I raise an eyebrow. “How?”
He waves me off. “Don’t worry about it. I’ve got it.”
Before I can protest, he starts walking in the opposite direction of the crowd. I shove after him. He doesn’t make it far before bumping into someone, sending them sprawling to the ground.
“Sorry,” bending down, he picks up their open phone and starts typing away.
“Hey!” they shout. “Give that back!”
“Yeah, yeah,” he replies, “One second.”
“Leo!” I scold, rushing over. “Give that back!”
“Library is a twenty-minute walk from here,” he says, passing the phone back to its owner. “Come on.”
The person opened their mouth to yell, but Leo was already gone.
