Where do I begin?
Well, throughout most of my childhood all I ever remember was two things; wrestling and books.
I remember my dad's huge collection of books - hundreds of them, for certain. I grew up looking at the covers and occasionally browsing through them. I gave the odd one or two a read (as best I could at such a young age), Tolkien, Pratchett, Jacques, Gemmell, Eddings and so many more - including the ever controversial John Norman Gor series. Little did my father know that my dabble in these books sparked a something inside me a little later on in life.
I'd always appreciated the art that is the forgery of words and the use of creativity. I was always in school plays, I loved to draw, I loved to watch the spectacle that was wrestling. I watched so much of the latter that it was my dream until around 14 years old or so to do nothing other than become a wrestler. That was my dream, but it all changed rather suddenly one day during a piece of schoolwork.
I was assigned a piece of coursework for my English GCSE - I needed to complete an 'original writing' piece. I needed to write a short story of around 8,000 words. I dreaded the idea at first, until I sat down in front of the computer and started typing - and since then, I have never been able to shake that desire. I ended up writing upwards of 15,000 words and only stopped then because my teacher wanted to throttle me for giving her so much to work with. I handed a copy to my Dad, just to see what he thought. He read, his look stern as he passed through the pieces of paper just like the hundreds of books he'd laid to waste in the past. His only words were something to the effect of "What happens next?" - followed by a smile.
I knew then what I know now - I am a writer.
I'm a gaming fanatic, wrestling guru, metalhead, Tottenham Hotspur fan, scouser, occult enthusiast, psycho, wordsmith, dreamer, anime lover, mouthy bastard and most importantly of all - a true djentleman.
Oh, and I have a Lordship.
