Part 1:
Happy 4th of July to all my US readers!!!
I, myself, am a US citizen and got to celebrate- in a way totally different than I ever have before.
So yesterday, the 3rd, I had to work. The manager in charge yesterday was the nicest manager in our deli (I work at a Deli). The store was completely empty, yet we had to stay til 9pm because the boss and higher manager wouldn't let us close early. So we cleaned everything up with more than 2 hours to spare and just talked for awhile. When it got close to 9pm, she locked the doors to the store early anyways and let us leave early.
Which was great- because the firework show in my town always happens around 9:30. So when released a little early and a little bit of speeding, I made it to the park district (where most the town watches the fireworks), miraculously found a parking spot two blocks from the park and made it to my family's blanket right before the firework show started.
(I also scared my cousin, who did not know I was going to be there. )
And a couple days ago my mom asked me to try and get the 4th and 5th off from work- and my boss said no. Basically she said in a very snappy tone: you got the 4th off because normally Tuesday's are your day off. You can't have Wednesday off too.
So my family went ahead with their planning and left for the Dells this morning, with my cousin taking my place.
And just last Friday, said cousin and grandma flew in from POLAND!!!! It was meant to be a surprise- and for my family it was, but not for me due to terrible planning on my mom and aunt's part.
However, today I got to spend most of the day with my grandma. Spent a few hours talking about a bunch of stuff and showing her pictures of my family throughout the last few years. Had homemade ruskie pierogi (potato and cheese pierogi- the best kind in the world) and caught up.
