This is one time I find gobsmacked an appropriate usage. Your recommendation of my story was extremely generous and I had no idea of any readers to speak of.
My drive fried and my email was hacked some time ago and everything was lost - nice move for a guy who wants to write spy tales.
I was reading a story of yours but you delayed some updates then it ws all gone. Shamefully, I even forgot the title and never found it gain.
Long way around to say an appreciative thank you.

The dead drive and hacked email — that’s terrible!
It also sounds like the beginning of a spy novel, so there’s that. ;)
That update delay is a long dreadful series of events involving an agent looking at the manuscript, the political climate taking a sudden turn into something it seemed really irresponsible to release a War on Terror story into, and then starting to write a new story about trying to get about the business of intelligence gathering in an administration on fire—dumpster fire—but having to contextualize it with the first story.
Apologies for leaving you and everyone hanging, and you’re very, very welcome <3
