Because what happens when you take a medieval fantasy and let centuries pass? Of course, the civilization develops into something beyond medieval.. something that somehow feels almost modern. Meanwhile, the first book put a lot of focus on memories.. but the second is more intent on matters of identity. Don't worry, we're not going to the depth of horror, nothing mature like that.. but emotion is a huge factor in this dramatic adventure.
