Hey, have we done rfr on each other yet?

Chapter 19 is up, and I am catching up on my R4R! Sorry for being slow on that, but I promise I'm slowly getting through them :)

You guys! You HAVE to read the upcoming chapters. Since I last made a chapter announcement, chapters 14-16 are now live! And keep an eye out for Chapter 17 tomorrow. It will certainly make you tense, so be sure to catch up if you haven't already! Here's a sneak preview of what's to come in Chapter 17 below:
          
          "You won't disappoint anyone," Vincenzo said, and there was something in his tone—firm, final. It was starting to sound more like a demand rather than a request. "Marianna, let me tell you somethin’. It’s a no-brainer, the kind of family our Charmer dragged you into. I get it. Things can seem a little dodgy, but I’m tellin’ you, you will only be on the legal side of things. The family takes care of its own. You'd have protection, respect, a real position. It's an honor we don't extend to just anyone."
          
          An honor. Right. An honor that came with a chain around her neck.
          
          Carlo leaned forward, his hand moving from her knee to her hand on the table. "Baby, this is a good thing. I wouldn't push you into something that wasn't right for you. But Vice is right—this gives you standing."
          
          She looked between Carlo's earnest, hopeful expression and Vincenzo's cool, calculating gaze. They were both waiting for her answer. Both were expecting her to say yes. Because what woman in Marianna's position would say no?
          
          She opened her mouth to respond—
          
          And then the peaceful air filled with the fresh scent of coffee was shattered.
          
          The sound hit first. The obnoxious screeching of tires, rubber burning against asphalt, loud and aggressive and wholly wrong. Angelina's head snapped toward the windows, instinct taking over before conscious thought could catch up.
          
          Her eyes landed on a black sedan with windows down, barrels already visible.
          
          "GET DOWN!"

AH! I'm so excited! "The Nile Awards" are happening, and I have submitted my story to my first contest here on Wattpad! We Were Supposed to be Strangers is my absolute passion project, and I'm so stoked to potentially get more eyes on the story I fell in love with writing about. Hello lovlies! Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. Chapter 13 is live. Things are just getting messier and messier by the chapter.
          
          As for all my R4R, I know I have a few to catch up to, so don't worry, I haven't forgotten about you! Now that the holiday is over, I can sit and read more consistently.

Happy New Year, everyone! 2026 is finally here! I started this story in December and now have over 200 reads! Thank you all so much! 2026 I plan to finish this story in the next few months and hopefully deliver a beautiful, tragic, and intense story worth reading to you all. In the meantime, here is a sneak peek of tomorrow's chapter, "Midnight".

          In Vincenzo’s ears, all he heard was revenge.
          
          It was ironic, really. Vincenzo thought distantly, considering how close they were now. Sharing the same breath as though he still owned hers.
          
          "Either way you pick, you bleed," she continued. "And so do I. There's no clean door here." She tipped her chin a fraction, defiance and plea welded together. "If you can spare me, make it quiet, make it clean, do it now. If you can't… if the family is all you have and your loyalty is to them, then do what men like you do with problems like me and sleep with it later. Just don't let them make you a rat, and don't let them make me a show. That's all I'm asking."
          
          Vincenzo stared at her for a very long time. His hands finally fell away from her hair, dropping to his sides, and he stepped back. The distance between them felt like miles now, cold air rushing in to fill the space where heat, jealousy, and fury had lived moments before.
          
          She was asking him to choose.
          
          Her or the family.
          
          Mercy or loyalty.
          
          Love or survival.
          
          And he didn't have the fucking answer.
