Hello. It's been far too long since I posted anything. I was extremely focused on doing my "Bright Shadows 2" anthology. Well, except for redoing all of the illustrations, it is finished and published. Additionally, I've entered it into the 2023 Wattys (TM).

I had it quite illustrated, but I still have a lot to learn about how to legally use so-called "free" artwork on the Internet. Apparently, getting sued for using an illustration that is claimed to be usable commercially is still very possible.

          	Case in point:
A photographer cannot relinquish rights that he or she never had in the first place. Multiple releases may be necessary: model, property, location, trademarks, etc.

So, I deleted about a year's work at illustrating my anthology. Which also explains the new cover art. While the new cover is in ZERO danger of winning any rewards, I designed it!

Now onto my other projects. (Yay!)
I hope that your own writing projects are progressing nicely.

          	Sincerely, Macbeth Raymondovich

I want to be done editing my anthology in a week or two. Then I can get back to my other projects. Editing the illustrations is hard work. However, I'm pleased how it's turning out.

Even so, there comes a time when a book or a story is done. Good, bad, or indifferent: stop. Move on to the next project.

However, I may want to get better software before tackling another major, illustrated project!

August 19, 2022:
Missed the Wattys(TM) deadline by--this--much. As in, I'd finally finished my anthology. But I couldn't even find where on the website where to look for the entry form!

Even so, I'm happy. I'm almost 61, and I have finally published an entire book.

Bonus: it contains both original sci-fi and original superheroes: two of my favorite genres.

The book has a new cover: a post-deadline feat. Also post-deadline, I've reevaluated how I'm rating the book. If this makes it harder for you to access it: sorry! I'd rather be overly cautious than underly cautious.

"Bright Shadows: A Hinterlands Anthology." Hmm. What to write next??

M-Raymondovich

Having something prepared for the 2022 Wattys(TM) is going to be a longshot at best. I've made a decision to shift my focus to "Bright Shadows: A Hinterlands Anthology." There are 2 obstacles:
               1) It's taking more time to edit it than I'd anticipated. This includes illustrating it.
               2) I may be short of the required word length.
Nonetheless, I'm taking a run at the deadline. Unfortunately, this is putting me behind on my other projects. The good news is that I'm clear of COVID.

Oh well. I hope to have several projects lined up for the 2023 Wattys(TM). We shall see what we shall see. God may have other plans. (Hopefully, that doesn't include it raining frogs. Although that would make a lot of storks happy.)

I'm behind schedule. (I had COVID recently). It's a longshot, but I want to enter the Wattys competition this year. I may focus on only one project for the next several weeks -- probably "Viron's Renegades."

(I'm presently juggling 3 books, to counter writer's block on any 1 book.)

But it's also time to develop a social media presence. For now, Facebook isn't an option.

For me, meeting the Wattys are a top concern -- but not my only concern. I may have a chance at a wider audience for my "Viron's Renegades" project.

Hopefully, I'll have a good report this next Friday.

          Sincerely, Macbeth Raymondovich

Hello, I just found your work. I am looking forward to it. Btw, do you have any social media that can be followed?

@delightedheart98
            Thank you for your consideration!

To answer your question, I am researching social media options. I'll likely start with a simple blog, and then see where that takes me. Right now, Blogspot(TM) seems to be a suitable option.

However, there is a local business that I may eventually deal with in order to get a more complex website set up.

Well. I've returned to writing about superheroes. I'm working on fleshing out my little constellation of alternate universes. I do intend on getting back to Homestead. Meanwhile, I have an active, Uber-munchkin project, "Zed Heads in 'Deep Kimchi.'"

This makes 3 books actively in progress. Hopefully, I'll have something ready for this year's Wattys. In any case, "Zed Heads" dives into a creative vein that dates back to 1984, and it's dedicated to the late Stan Lee. I hope y'all like it.

Hello

After a 6 year hiatus of writing, I am back on Wattpad with a new fantasy adventure novel titled "Teleka: Dawn of a New Age" and would love to hear your thoughts on it.

Here's the synopsis: In a post-medieval era where a small population wields telekinetic-like powers known as "the wisp", a young woman from a distant village who possesses these powers reunites with her brother for a quest to rescue their father after learning that he is still alive. What begins as a straightforward search however, inevitably spirals out of control when it is suspected that their father's sudden disappearance may be anything but a coincidence.

Please check it out if you genuinely find it interesting and let me know what you think.

I've read all your comments and I have to say this is some of the most detailed and helpful feedback that I've received so far.

I know some people are going to have issues with Isbeil saying the C word and I think your analysis of it is spot on. That being said, I prefer to think of the targeted age range and audience for this book as something along the lines of Game of Thrones, so if people have an issue with that then they will likely have issues with other things at later points in the story.

Thank you for putting in the time and effort to give the book a chance, I really appreciate it. Chapter III should be going up sometime next month

@amconversenovels
I've read your book thus far, and in one sitting.

            1) I noticed a few punctuation errors that can be easily fixed.

            2) The characters are interesting and well rounded.

            3) The action sequences are detailed.

            4) How the powers function, and malfunction, reads like you put a lot of thought into them--including how various characters use them.

            5) You have posed several mysteries that are all intriguing.

            6) About language... First, I'm no fan of political correctness. Second, you place suitable warnings in your book. However, there's one word that a lot of people have issues with, and it starts with a "c." (Yes. Having a female character say it--particularly the character you chose... It fits.) Even so, with some people, that word could be a deal break in reading your book.

Summary: the book is fun to read, well-paced, and overall intriguing. I love the protagonists. The villains are very dimensional, and are neither cliches nor stereotypes. Well done.
