MARCUS BARCELOS was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is a writer, screenwriter and passionate about literature, especially those of the horror persuasion. 

He grew up reading the great national and international masters of the genre, such as Stephen King, Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft and R.F. Luchetti. In the classics, he found his passion for telling supernatural horror stories.

Marcus began writing his debut book, Horror on Darrington Hill, back in 2014, on the Wattpad platform. His pulp and noir style, result of his passion for intense and fast paced stories, soon gained thousands readers, and with each chapter he drew more and more followers. Due to the noise it began to make on Wattpad, Horror on Darrington Hill was selected to join the exclusive "Featured" position in the website, alongside with only the best stories handpicked by the Wattpad team.

From then on, the number of readers increased further, surpassing all brands of the genre and consolidating itself as the platform's biggest national horror hit. 

In addition to his solo duology (Horror on Darrington Hill and Dance of Darkness), Marcus also participated in major anthologies, such as Mundos Paralelos (portuguese for "parallel worlds"), published by Editora Abril in 2017, a collection of short stories by the ten most influential Wattpad writers of all times.

Always quoted in major literary events, such as Brazilian's International Biannual Book Fair and the latest edition of "LER - Salão Carioca do Livro", where he was part of the official programming in a chat alongside Raphael Montes, Marcus is currently working on his latest scary stories and as screenwriter for producers and TV channels.

He continues to live in Rio de Janeiro, but increasingly travels around Brazil in the dissemination of his work, in the literary events to which he is invited and for the lectures about Wattpad and the new internet literature.
