As a musician and a writer I found poetry to have a fantastical rhythm that is inspiring and is expressed by the surrounding atmosphere. I enjoy nature more than anything else, for it gives sustenance to the soul and a sense of calm to me that I can not find anywhere else. I often prance through the woods with nothing but the rhymes in my head and joy in my heart because it lets me be free with my ideas and movement; I believe true creativity flows not from a mind chained to a desk, but from emotions that bubble up on a moments notice. Sometimes the best poetry and art often come to me when I am with my dog, a giant yellow labrador. We both have tenacious spirits and unbridled energy. Due to my rambunctiousness, I struggled in school, feeling stifled by predetermined topics and academic essays and also because of a learning difference. Facing the challenges of dyslexia has taught me that, despite the fact that not everything comes easy, even the most difficult barriers can be overcome; it just depends how one approaches them. Overcoming these struggles was one of the reasons I took up poetry. It proved that even I could conquer a mountain of words with some extra determination and a little creativity.
