Christopher Madsen was born in Renton Washington. As a kid, he loved exploring the trails running through the forests near his home. This sparked his love for nature, hiking, and camping.
His passion for writing started with an audio collection of Halloween stories on a cassette tape. At the ripe age of eight, he watched the movie Alien, scaring him and demonstrating the power of the story.
Christopher started writing on a typewriter. He enjoyed reading Tom Swift, Choose Your Adventure books, and science fiction. Later, he discovered Stephen King and Dean Koontz. In middle school, he helped start the school paper, Maywood Manifestation. He created comics and wrote movie reviews.
In high school, he focused on academics to prepare for college. Taking advanced courses in English, Physics, and Computer Science. He discovered philosophy after reading Candide by Voltaire. He attended Central Washington University earning a degree in Sociology and Social Services with minors in Psychology and Philosophy.
Christopher joined the Washington Trail Association to maintain hiking trails. He started a social service agency to help adults with brain injuries. He also trained and fought in Mixed Martial Arts.
When his daughters, Mackenzie and Emily, were born, he needed a stable income. He became an insurance agent but didn't enjoy it. Then returned to his social service agency and took a job with UPS. This allowed him to become a full-time driver.
He published a poem, Raven Wings, which won an award. As a driver, he listened to audiobooks and lectures on writing. He joined Medium and published poetry, short stories, and articles. He also joined the Super Hardcore Editing Group (SHEG) to improve his writing.
Today, Christopher lives in Monroe, Washington, with his wife, Jessica Ryan. He writes, hikes, and enjoys discussing philosophy with his wife over coffee and tea. His life shows the power of stories and creativity.
