Never be ok with who you are or your level; always try to improve yourself. This is something we've lost in exchange for making every main character special and self-loving, despite the fact they haven't progressed as a protagonist during the course of a whole novel. Mental struggle isn't coming to terms with yourself, it's not that simple.
I don't think a main character should be black because it's cool. I don't think they should be fat or gay to preach acceptance. I don't think we need more unemotional female leads with nineteen and a half vampire boyfriends. I think a character has to be who they are and relatable to a story and audience, then improve upon them. I'd like to make something that inspires kids and adults out there who don't understand this to come to terms and work harder in their everyday lives.
And until I do I will be posting my old, rejected drafts onto here.
