@heatherlovatt I don't have a ton of insight into Wattpad readers reading habits, but I think "opening the page" counts as a read, even if you don't read any of it or close it right away. So it's not like they read part 1 then stop, it's they open it, scan it, decide it's not what they're in the mood for,and then close it. It's also possible that multiple opens count as distinct reads and that happens more with the first chapter. But yeah, I have no idea.
So they had contacted me about featuring this story. Later I read about someone else's experiences and they mentioned another program, the Featured Author Program, that apparently no longer exists.
Or maybe it's just the story? People tell me it's great, I get lots of good amazon reviews and hundreds of free downloads every month, but the conversion isn't super great. Couldn't say why. :)
