LOTUS: English name derived from the flower name, from Latin lotus, from Greek lotos, a name for various kinds of plants before it came to designate the Egyptian "white lotus." The Greek word may ultimately come from Hebrew lowt, meaning "covering, veil."

/"I'm here," he said. He was there for me in the dark. He was the light that I clung to. "Listen to my heartbeat. Just focus on that." It was strong and it was soothing. He held me in his arms, comforting me the best he could. 

"And we shall miss him, a brother, a son, and a friend. For he is entering the gates of heaven and watching over us..." I focus back to the ground, glancing up to my parents. The only other two who understood me. Tears streaming my face, falling onto the grass. The dark clouds that loomed over us were calm, not one drop of rain-at least, not yet.

He smiled at me, laughed at his own jokes even when they weren't funny. He held me close and was always there. "I promise, you're going to be fine and we'll look back and reminisce on the memories and moments we had together." That was the day he placed a flower in my braided hair. 

When everyone was gone, Mom and Dad waiting for me in the car, I sat beside the grave of my best friend./
