the mandela catalogue is an analogue horror about humanity fighting off Alternates, which are entities with impossible physiology. the Alternates transform into someone, then engage in psychological warfare in order to get the person they're imitating to commit suicide
            
            the main method is inflicting M.A.D. (metaphysical awareness disorder) which causes anxiety, horror, severe panic attacks, mental breakdowns, etc, and usually leads to suicide
            
            there are four types of alternates
            
            1. doppelgangers. perfect or near perfect imitation of the target
            
            2. unspeakable/detectable. only one alternate in this category, which is the alternate that replaced archangel gabriel (tmc seems to have a lot of religious themes). alternate gabriel is immortal and op as hell
            
            3. flawed impersonators/overdriven assimilations. alternates that have a shitty disguise, overdriven features and clearly not human/clearly alternates. elongated limbs, faceless heads, or just fucked up anatomy in general
            
            4. tulpas. basically imaginary friends. 
            
            tulpas can be summoned through the might of the subconscious programme, which is a tv series in TMC universe hosted by a puppet called stanley.
            
            TMOTS show is meant to help kids create imaginary friends, but in reality it tricked kids into creating tulpa-class alternates from their fantasies, and i'm pretty sure stanley is an alternate of sorts too
            
            so yeah thats about the main stuff i'll post more later but yeaaaa TMC is fucked up
