ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Mira Carleen grew up in a small coastal farming community in Kitsap, Washington where her aspirations for science, writing and fantasy were cultivated.

She attended Pacific Lutheran University and received her Bachelors Degree in Geo-Sciences, Specialization in Children's Literature, Autobiography Writing and Majors in Creative Writing. She has a background in aquatic marine biology for her job as an Environmental Educator, which was spurred by her love of mermaids.

She has always enjoyed writing since she was young, writing scientific research papers, science fiction and historical fiction. While attending PLU, she began writing fantasy books based on mermaids, Atlantis and alternate dimensions. She published her first Scientific Thesis on Mass Wasting Processes at Mount St. Helens (USGS Publication), and written three books on Medicial Plants, Plants of the Pacific Northwest and Plants of Vashon Island.

Much of her inspiration and favorite authors included: J. R. R. Tolkien (Lord of the Rings), Philip Pullman (His Dark Materials), Ransom Riggs (Miss Peregrine's Home For Particular Children), CM Michaels (Kerrigan's Race), Peter David (Legions Of Fire) and Dan Brown (Robert Langdon's Series). Many of these elements you'll find in her work.

Her current work is complying Native American Mythology of the Mount St. Helens (Project for the MSHNVM/MSHI) and writing a eight book series called: The Atlantean Doctrine.

As a transgendered individual, she incorporates gender dysphoria in many of her 'transfiguration' stories. This was a cooping mechanism for her to safely understand her human body and mermaid soul.

Another reoccurring aspect of her writing is heavy on respiratory conditions, as she is currently battling Cystic Fibrosis, which in the last five years has given her time to focus on writing old stories, and bring them to life.

In her free time; she spends much of her time reading, researching new topics and rock collecting.
