Hello!

I just wanted to recommend something to you guys, as I think it would be quite useful, particularly if you're a new author or want to gain more reads.

I think that the cover of your story is really, really important. It takes seconds for the reader to decide whether they want to read it or not. The first thing that stands out to them is the cover. I'm not saying that if you don't have a cover you won't get read, but if you have a good cover, the reader is more likely to investigate your story further, and that's where a good synopsis comes in.

Now I can't exactly sit here and tell you that I'm getting thousands of reads, I'm not. That's because I have only just written some of my works and just given them all nicer covers. Success on here can take a long time. For my poems and shorter, finished stories I used the Wattpad cover maker. It's good, but I feel like you can't do a lot with it, as you can't upload your own photo. For my main stories I used Adobe Spark (this is not an ad, but Adobe, feel free to spon if you so wish). On Adobe Spark you can add your own images, play around with different fonts, styles and layouts. It's really easy to use and it literally took me 15 minutes to make 3 covers. It's completely free, but you do have to make an account, which only takes a couple of minutes. Once you're done making your best-selling cover, go to 'share' up the top and download it. EASY PEEZY. (It works for PC and I think Apple, but it doesn't work for Android yet, soz Android peeps) Feel free to check it out. Here's the link:

          https://spark.adobe.com/make/book-cover-maker

(I would recommend making the account, logging in, closing your browser and then clicking on the link again to take you directly to the book cover maker, it just makes things easier.)

I hope you find this useful! If you think anyone else could use it then pass the link on.

          Until next time,

Hello again!

I honestly can't tell you the last time I was on here, because I have neglected this beautiful platform for far too long.

When I first joined Wattpad on the 16th of October 2013 (when I had just turned 13, 4 days prior) my passion for writing had been long-existent. 4 years later, the passion is still there. Last year I completed my GCSE's and achieved an A grade in English Literature and a B grade in English Language. I am now currently studying A level English Literature and Language at college, with hopes to get in to university to study English Literature with Creative Writing.

The point is, I love writing. The fact that I don't write nearly as much as I would like is sad. The fact that I have not logged into this site in months is sad. In the pursuit of becoming a writer, I'm not writing. Yes, I may have qualifications, but to be a writer there aren't any entry requirements or set paths. If I don't write, I don't grow and if I don't grow, I'll never succeed in my endevour.

So, while studying to get the grades, I shall try my very best to upload on here at least once a month. Whether it be a short story, chapters of a novel, a script or a poem, I need to plant my metaphorical seed and water it.

I've just posted a couple of things that I've written recently on here tonight. I began writing 'A dozen orange roses' last night on a site similar to Wattpad, called Sweek. It's not nearly as good, as pretty much no one uses it. I want my writing to be read, so I copied it from there to here, because I knew I'd get at least 10 reads. I wrote 'Moonlight Eulogy: A Poem' on the notes on my phone, precisely on the 1st of April at around 10pm, in the backseat of my Dad's car when taking my sister back to her university. Fun fact!

I intend to finish ADOR within the month and start writing Warrior Heart again and possibly finish it within the next century.

Thanks for reading this hefty essay, It's nice to be back.

          Until next time,

          Lucy x
