My stories twist toward the speculative, even as I explore more ordinary topics of identity, mortality and sexual obsession.
To quote my story Astra, “Sometimes demons are the only angels we have.”
These texts are inventories of dreams and compulsions; weird kernels of ‘what-if’s and ‘why-not’s, made to flower and grow in the night.
Recent works, one of which was shortlisted for the international Aeon Award, include a story about the dark power of adolescent longing, a devil in love, and a series about the post-apocalyptic adventures of our descendants. This series was picked up as promotional material for an upcoming MMO RPG game; the stories are (slowly) being made into comic books and an interactive graphic, as well as ebooks available through Kindle, the proceeds of which all go to developing the game.
I'm currently working on my first novel, a story about a girl coming of age in Charleston, South Carolina.
As you may guess from the preceding paragraphs, she is not an ordinary girl, nor is it an ordinary Charleston.
