I recently came across your version of my book and wanted to bring something up. I don’t want to sound rude, but I didn’t give permission for you to translate or make any changes to my original work.
If you had approached me and asked me first, I would’ve been open to talking about translating the book. However, I’m concerned that you went ahead without my consent and even made changes to the main character into your own original character (OC).
Please be aware that unauthorized translations and derivative works violate copyright law under the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works, which grants us authors exclusive rights over translations and adaptations of our works. This also includes the right to stop unauthorized changes.
I hope you understand where I’m coming from and take a moment to think about this. I’d also appreciate hearing your side of the story.
