Hi! I'm Nancy Freund -- pronounced "friend," and that's what it means in Swiss German. I wanted to be the first female goalie in the NHL, but (luckily?) that didn't work out. My next career choice did: WRITER! So did my other two big goals in life -- teacher and wife-and-mom.
My 2nd novel is ready for the Wattpad world. It's an unconventional coming-of-age titled 'MAILBOX: A Scattershot Novel of Racing, Dares and Danger, Occasional Nakedness, and Faith.' It's already published, and it will occasionally be only $.99 for the eBook, but the first chapters are here now too. It's about a 13-year-old girl eager for distant friends to write letters. She's busy figuring out the meaning of life, having some adventures and some misadventures along the way.
Once I put up the start of 'Mailbox,' I decided to do the same with my debut novel 'Rapeseed.' That one features a synesthetic mom whose blended senses get her past in Kansas tangled up with her present in London, along with a neurological combo of sights, sounds, smells, and memories. Meanwhile, her teenage son has a new girl in his life and he's trying to become a rapper.
Hope you enjoy these parts of 'Mailbox' and 'Rapeseed.'
Thanks for reading!
