Strange Metamorphosis sounds rather Kaftka-esque...only hopefully with a happier ending ;) One of my favorite books when I was a kid (and that was long ago) was about a boy who shrunk and lived with some ants in a colony. Fascinating adventure story, but I can't remember the name of it!

Oh, and BTW, the short story I’m publishing at the moment focuses more on adventure. Although the more profound parts of Marcel’s dilemma are reserved for the novel, Subterranean Peril introduces some of the main characters that are featured in Strange Metamorphosis.

Thanks for stopping by. I much appreciated Kafka’s classic too :) As well as the context, though, my book differs in that it portrays the metamorphosis as a needful change, not as an illness. Marcel's human-to-insect metamorphosis parallels his transformation from a boy to a young man who must make life-changing decisions and follow his own path. His quest then is a metaphor for his need to follow his heart. At each stage of his metamorphosis he gains strength, and so confidence, to overcome his weaknesses. But, of course, there is a price to pay.
