Thanks for dropping by. My name's Paul C.R. Monk. I was born in Exmouth, Devon, grew up in the south east of England then spent quite a good few years living in France with a 3-year stint in Spain.

I'm a qualified linguist, member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists and worked for 9 years as a teacher and translator, before moving into digital media. 

I have always been passionate about writing during my free time. Sitting in a waiting room one day I took up the paper and my eyes fell upon a job ad for a game writer. I sent in my application by fax that afternoon, got an interview, wrote a test script and moved into the world of digital entertainment! 

For the next decade I wrote various scripts and storyworlds for video game titles, and authored an interactive language learning course. It was a great experience but I still kept up my own writing in my spare time, and dreamt of one day seeing my own books in print.

I published Strange Metamorphosis, a fantasy adventure novel in 2013. It's placed in fantasy although there are no wizards or dragons, instead dragonflies, a rhinoceros beetle and a boy that finds himself gradually transformed into a bug. I've written a short adventure story, Subterranean Peril, set in the storyworld of the book and featuring some of the main characters. 

By the way, now I am back in England for a while with my French wife so that our three young sons can become bi-cultural, you might call it doing my bit towards the entente cordiale ;)
