In the cave where silence hums,
A single flame so softly drums.
A candle bright, a steadfast friend,
Whose warmth and glow would never end.

It lit the way for souls once lost,
Through winding paths they'd never crossed.
They'd find their way, their fears unwind,
Led by a flame, so pure, so kind.

But one by one, they'd leave the dark,
Chasing after a brighter spark.
The candle watched them drift away,
Toward the sun, toward a warmer day.

And though it burned with love and care,
They found a glow that wasn't there.
A gentler light, a softer gleam,
Something more perfect than it seemed.

The candle stayed, its place defined,
The first to help, the first behind.
While they found others, bright and new,
The candle's flame just flickered blue.

For in the sun, it dared not go,
Its flame too weak, its light too slow.
It couldn't follow where they'd run,
A friend replaced by a kinder one.
