I'm one of those "unique" people that always seems to appear out of place no matter what crowd I'm in - kind of like a chameleon in reverse.
Most of my educational background is in engineering, but generally my head is in the clouds and I couldn't care less about how specific gizmos work, as long as the gizmo is working when I need it. (Hello office printer, yes, I mean you.) In short, I'm an artsy engineer.
In 2012, I decided to take an art teacher training course, because I love painting. There I quickly discovered that I still stood out like a sore thumb; clearly too practical to be a woo-woo.
In 2013 I quit my full-time job in engineering/project management, sold my house, and headed back to school to study theology. It's both the scariest and the best decision I've ever made.
Since then I've decided to just be true to who I am. I let myself swing between reason and emotion, follow my whims, my wild ideas. My burning question is really, "what is it to be human?" and I explore all that to the best of my abilities in my writing. Sometimes, life is laugh-out-loud funny, or floating on clouds of happiness. Other times, the pain and grief can be crushing, the anger so intense it threatens the distinction between human and animal.
Hopefully you will have a chance to come with me on that journey through some of my writing.
