I wrote my first short story when I was five, hunting and pecking on an eggshell white typewriter, using more correction fluid than ink. It was the tale of a young man who will not follow his grandmother's simple instructions about avoiding the woods near her house, resulting in his being turned into a beetle and stomped on.

Rather than send me to the counselor's office, my kindergarten teacher entered it in a writing competition for 8 to 12-year-olds. It won. This gave me the unfortunate lifelong impression that punching well above my weight class was a good idea.

In the regrettably numerous intervening years, I have had writing published in horror and fantasy anthologies in three countries, contributed to Scholastic's magazine group, been featured in Huffington Post's political and satire sections, and am finishing edits on two full-length novels, hoping to find a home in 2024.

As a side project, I build, or assist in building, world settings and character backgrounds/story arcs for game designers or tabletop players who have all the right ideas, but perhaps not all the right words.

I occasionally tour as a stand-up comedian and was once a contestant on Comedy Central's @midnight.
