Also, just to brag a bit, during my time at Oakland University, I took a playwriting class in which our final project was to write a ten page play. Throughout the class, I had already written two pieces that were well regarded by both my classmates and my professor, but the ten page play had garnered the most acclaim by far. My professor immediately compared it to a play written by a former student of hers that started off the same way mine did. Shortly after, my professor offered for me to take advanced playwriting, in which I expanded the play into a full length one. Little did I know that sharing this piece with the class would end up becoming the most surreal experience of my life! Students were telling me that they had never been "so inspired," and that one scene in particular was "the best thing I read from a classmate." A few months after my advanced course ended, my play ended up getting a staged reading at Oakland University, the first written by a student to receive a staged reading in about ten years! The play went on to receive another staged reading at Theatre Nova in March of 2019! So yeah, thought I'd throw that in there just to give myself a little credit :)
