When people ask me about the biggest influences in my development as a writer, I tell them there were two: the Blues and getting punched in the face. I was born in Brittany, France, and boxed for several years as a teenager before I dropped out of high school to play guitar in a band. I've lived in France, San Francisco, the Caribbean, and Brooklyn, and finally settled in the Tremé neighborhood of New Orleans. I've earned money as a waiter, bartender, construction worker, painter, landscaper, as well as other, unmentionable activities. My fiction has appeared in CrimeSpree Magazine and the Noir bimonthly Thuglit. George Pelecanos said I was ”among the rising stars of the new generation of noir novelists”, and I've written a couple of crime novels: Under the Dixie Moon, a Library Journal Staff Pick for 2012 and a Spinetingler Magazine pick for best books for 2012, and Under the Carib Sun, available everywhere ebooks are sold from The Rogue Reader.
