I am one of your senior writers. A late starter. I enjoy writing and when immersed will lose myself for a while.
Still working, I don't find as much time as I would wish, to write but make the most of it when I do. 

One of a large family, stories were always important to all of us and to which we would sit waiting for some fantastic ending to emerge. There were always books to read, both factual and fictional and I enjoyed them all. Story telling has always been with me, which hopefully, I have passed onto my children.

Reading allows your imagination to expand beyond belief and no story is ever the same for two people.
