No one ever sees these, but the smallest things put me off books; Dialogue is wordy and not natural, dialogue isn’t broken up, grammar is poor, plot is nice but execution is subpar, plot is nice but it’s ridiculously cliche, etc.
When I put someone’s book in my 2 reading lists I know the author is going to see it and wonder why I didn’t like their book. I definitely understand it can be disheartening knowing someone didn’t enjoy something you put so much time and effort into.. I just don’t want anyone to be upset that I personally didn’t like their book. (Sometimes I don’t put their book in the cliche list- where I wanted to, because I want to spare their feelings.)
I’m picky with books and will stop reading after a literal chapter if I don’t like it. No matter if I like your book or not just keep doing what you’re doing and continue your writing journey. You cannot and will not please everyone. I’m not the best writer either and I never once said I am.
That is all. ☺️
