Incredible! 3200 reads on Peeta's POV. I couldn't be happier. I wonder where the count will be come the one year anniversary!?! ;p

Catching Fire & Mockingjay Parallels - Katniss & Peeta

          Catching Fire

The laughter drains from those eyes, and they are staring so intensely into mine, it’s like they can read my thoughts. “The locket didn’t work, did it?” Peeta says, even though Finnick is right there. Even though everyone can hear him. “Damn it Katniss!” Peeta exclaims suddenly.

Before I have a chance to react Peeta grabs my face in his hands and kisses me. It’s violent, forceful. It frightens me, as if Peeta knew we had little time left. The thought that this may be our last kiss was unbearable. So I immersed myself into it, clutching him in my hands. Wishing to never let go.

Suddenly, Peeta’s lips retract from mine. I stand paralyzed in his arms. When I open my eyes, Peeta’s lips are pressed to my forehead and his eyes are shut tight as if savoring the moment. As if implanting it into his memory.

"I can’t lose you." Peeta whispers, a single tear trickling from his eye. Tears well in mine but I fight them.

"You won’t." I say, my hands now pressed on his. Peeta opens his eyes slowly and gazes down at me smiling.

"You’re such a terrible liar, Katniss Everdeen." He smiles, kisses my forehead again. Peeta extends his thumbs to my cheeks and wipe the tears that escaped my eyes. “Better not let them see you cry."
