Plugging away at my newest novel, For Every Evil. Honestly, I've never pantsed a book as much as I'm pantsing this one! I'm at about 23,000 words, which isn't bad for only being at it a month. Not sure what I think of it, but hey, I often surprise myself.

          	Hope everyone's well!

Hey Sarah! I want to drop a heartfelt note of gratitude to you here for completing my academic research survey on the representation of the Indian LGBTQ+ community on Wattpad.

Your responses were incredibly insightful and if others also fill out the survey like you, I'm sure I'll have a strong and valid research to present to the world soon!

SarahQuinnMcGrath

Oh you’re welcome! I didn’t think I was very useful, but if it helped, I’m glad. Is there a link to your survey that I could share on my socials? (Sorry—time escaped me as it so often does.)

Strings is DONE! Completely. Done. I'm proud of it. Will be starting the next within the next month . . . I need a little brain break!

Ok, just a question if anyone even wants to answer this--I was thinking about the Ambys and don't think I'll enter. I won an Amby for Women in the Woods last year, which, lovely. I also won the Pretty in Punk Awards for Darkheart a year or so ago. Also, amazing. I was very proud. But here's the thing . . . I neglected to make use of the prize packages with the stickers because . . . I am so particular about my book covers that I think the stickers interfere with the aesthetics of them. So I felt bad that I won and didn't even make use of the prizes. Does anyone else feel that way? I am so particular about the way my book covers look.

What do you all think of the stickers for book covers? I don't know. Would you use them? Anyway, I just don't feel like doing the Ambys. I'm only doing the Wattys cause there's a real prize involved, there. No matter what sort of prizes I win on Wattpad, I'm not going to get a lot of reads, here. It just ain't gonna happen.

@SarahQuinnMcGrath I don't put them on my covers, but I do include them in my awards portfolio with their respective competition.

@SarahQuinnMcGrath If the contest matters to me, I'll put sicker on while it is relevant/fresh. Then I take it off.

@SarahQuinnMcGrath I don't mind stickers on covers. Visually, I guess I don't worry whether they integrate or not. They are like clouds in the sky, something like that?

It's good to win, I presume. And it's good that your work fits into a Watty's category. My eligible work doesn't, not really, so I decided there probably is no point in submitting it.

Is anyone getting lots of reads on Wattpad these days? I wonder...

Oh yay! And I had a couple books added to Wattpad’s @fright page, as well: Darkheart and Strings (not that it’s ready!).

Also happy to see that @Paranormal has added The Women in the Woods to their list, "Occult & the Afterlife." (This has nothing to do with the afterlife, FYI, but we can count it as occult--sure!)

UPDATES:

Edits on Strings have been slow due to health issues (obnoxious as they are); still, I fully plan to have the book available through my website www.sqmcgrath.com in August! I don't know that it's my strongest work, but I have enjoyed the weirdness of it; circuses and freak shows have always been a side interest of mine.

In other news, I entered Hilltop House, The Women in the Woods, and Sublime Messages in this year's Watty's. I don't have high hopes, but hey, you never know. Darkheart and Kitty are probably not what Wattpad is looking for, even though I love those two. They're just longer, slower-burning works. I may enter Strings if I get it completed in time . . . I may not. It just depends.

I also still update Poems for Quixotic Children as I write them.

I have met so many amazing people via Wattpad, and while many have since left the platform, I still have hopes to meet more!

Moving right along . . . I still appreciate Wattpad for what it is, my sounding board and drafting base, and I love the opportunity to present my work for free. All right. That's all. Peace out.

All right . . . I am entering delicate territory with Strings . . . nearing the end. Obviously, the chapters are alphabetical, and I'm on V . . . I have several more to go. I am going to hold off posting the rest, I think, until I can work out the ending. Intention is to complete by the end of June and post--edit in July--publish in August.

Thanks to anyone reading! This one has been a different sort of challenge . . .
