I write poems because I want my words to be valuable. That way, when I tell my friends that I give them my word they can know that, at the very least, it's worth the paper it's written on.
Girl writes poems. I mostly keep them secret from everyone, but I'm sharing them here. I love words, and I love discovering new ways to describe things.
I also write songs but I don't sing. I play guitar, keyboards, and drums.
I began writing poems after writing songs. Sometimes I'd write things on a bus or train or somewhere else, and never make the music for them. So I began writing poems, making the words bend to that medium, just being heard without other music involved. It opened up a new way of creating the music for me. Instead of relying on the instrument sounds and the melody, everything had to come from the words I chose and the structure I gave to them.
For me, that's what poetry is. Making music out of spoken/printed words.
