I'm a professional writer for a large professional services organization, ghost writing speeches, blogs, and articles for global executives. I always swore I wouldn't write for pleasure as I view writing as work, plain and simple. But then I discovered fanfiction--and it has rekindled my joy in writing. 

As I am used to writing precisely worded pieces on everything from mining to climate change to gender parity and back again, my narrative skills are a bit rusty and I tend to focus a lot on dialog. I very much admire some of the fanfiction writers I've read for their ability to paint beautiful images with words. Hopefully with practice I will get there.
