Hey everyone! Quick update about Vol 2 Ch 5.

I wanted to have it ready today, but real life pulled the “mandatory adulting” card on me. Between work, responsibilities, and juggling a remaster AND a new volume, I realized I was sprinting at a pace even Yotsuba would tell me to slow down on.

          	Ichika: “He finally learned pacing.”
          	Nino: “About time.”
          	Itsuki: “A reasonable decision.”
          	Yotsuba: “ADULTING IS HARD!!”
          	Miku: *soft nod*
          	Shino: *quiet panic*

So instead of rushing a chapter I care about, I’m giving it the time it needs.

**Vol 2 Ch 5 will be uploaded within the next week.**

Once that’s out and Vol 2 is resting on a clean pause point, I’ll be shifting my full attention to finishing the Vol 1 remaster. After that takes its rightful place as the series’ starting point, Vol 2 becomes the main focus again.

Thank you for your patience and support — it means more than you know.

And for those waiting for Vol 2 Ch 5, here’s a spoiler‑free teaser:
          	---
The next chapter picks up on the quiet warmth left behind by the morning — the kind that lingers in small moments, shared glances, and the soft, unspoken closeness growing between two people still learning what it means to choose each other.

But “quiet” doesn’t last long in the Nakano household.

Before the day even begins, a certain set of sisters may or may not be attempting the world’s least subtle surveillance operation from behind a window. (They are… not good at it.) And somewhere between the fluster, the laughter, and the chaos, something shifts — gently, naturally, like it was always meant to happen.

By the time the walk to school begins, it isn’t their first… but it feels different. Lighter. Warmer. More certain. The kind of morning where belonging doesn’t feel like a question anymore.

          	Just a quiet truth.
          	---
And while you wait, the new remastered chapter is up — the sisters are already gossiping about it, so feel free to join them in experiencing the version the story has always wanted to be.

Hi everyone — I wanted to take a moment to apologize for the slower uploads lately, and also to thank you for your patience. I don’t take it for granted. Every read, every answered poll, every quiet moment you spend with these characters means more than I can put into words.

I also want to share a little bit of the “why” behind the pacing.

*Shards of Silence* isn’t just a story I’m writing [or remastering] — it’s a story I’m *processing*. Shino isn’t a self‑insert, but he *is* a reframed mirror of my own childhood and emotional wiring. Writing him means revisiting parts of myself I never really had the language for growing up. It’s not something I want pity for — it’s simply the truth of why this story feels the way it does, and why I take my time with certain scenes.

This project has become a healing journey for the characters and for me. I want to honor that process instead of rushing it.

And while the story is often centered on Shino and Miku, I want to make something clear: this isn’t just a romance. *Shards* is also a found‑family story — about what it means to be welcomed, to be seen, and to slowly build a place where you feel like you belong. It’s about healing in the presence of others, not just through one relationship, but through the messy, warm, chaotic bonds that form when people choose each other.

Because of this, every sister has her own emotional arc, her own fears, her own quiet truths she never says out loud. Volume 2 will [soon] include a set of five chapters — one for each sister — written entirely from their POV. You’ll get to see their internal worlds directly, not just through Shino’s eyes.
Thank you for sticking with me through this slow‑burn, character‑driven chaos. Thank you for letting me tell a story that’s personal, messy, warm, and sometimes a little too real. And thank you for giving these characters a place to land.

More is coming — and I’m excited to share it with you.

          — Peter

** REMASTER INCOMING **

          Hey everyone — Peter here.

I wanted to share something personal about this story’s journey. When I wrote the very first chapter of *Shards of Silence*, I didn’t know what it would become. I wasn’t thinking about arcs or pacing or emotional architecture. I was just a person writing a quiet scene between two strangers on a bright morning, posting chapters as I learned how to write them.

But somewhere along the way, something changed.

I grew attached — deeply — to these characters. To Shino’s quiet internal world. To Miku’s soft bravery. To the sisters’ chaotic warmth. And as the story grew, so did I. My writing evolved with every chapter, every poll question answered, every moment I spent inside this world.

Now, with Volume 2 unfolding in ways I never expected, I realized something important:

**Volume 1 deserves the same heart, depth, and emotional clarity that the later chapters now carry.**

So I’m remastering all 15 chapters of Volume 1: Origins.

Not rewriting the story — but rebuilding the foundation with the voice I’ve grown into. The remaster brings:

          • deeper internal thoughts
          • richer atmosphere
          • clearer emotional beats
          • stronger character nuance
          • smoother transitions into Volume 2

I’ll be releasing the remastered chapters one by one in a separate book titled *Shards of Silence - Volume 1: Origins [Remastered Edition]*. When all 15 are complete, it will replace the original in the main series, and the old version will remain as a standalone “Legacy Edition” — a snapshot of where this journey began.

Thank you for reading, supporting, and growing with me — this story means more to me than I ever expected, and I hope the remaster lets you fall in love with it all over again.

          — Peter

To further clarify: this will not affect the “every two weeks“ drop schedule for Volume Two chapters as it stands right now.

And just like that…
*Shards of Silence – Volume 2* is officially underway.

The first chapter is scheduled to release at midnight on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026 — marking the beginning of the Reconstruction Arc and the emotional dawn that follows the vow.

If you’ve read Volume 1, you already know what this story is about: quiet connection, slow healing, and the kind of love that grows in the spaces between words. Volume 2 will continue that journey — but with a new rhythm.

          **Updates will be less frequent.**
We’re moving past the backlog and into brand‑new material, so chapters will release more slowly than before. But the heart of the story remains the same.

          Thank you for reading.
          Thank you for caring.
And thank you for walking into the morning with me.

ShinoPPK

@ZackDiehm Yes! Absolutely! They are absolutely together by the end of the story… but that’s just the beginning of their journey together.

** ANNOUNCEMENT — VOLUME 1 COMPLETE**

And that’s a wrap on **Shards of Silence: Volume 1**.

Thank you to everyone who’s been reading, commenting, theorizing, or quietly following along. This story began as a simple “what‑if” and grew into something much more personal: a slow‑burn romance wrapped inside a family‑focused narrative about healing, connection, and the small moments that change everything.

If you’ve made it this far, you already know this isn’t a typical romance. It’s a story about found family, emotional growth, and two people learning how to step toward each other at their own pace. It’s quiet, it’s character‑driven, and it takes its time — and I’m grateful to everyone who embraced that rhythm.

**Volume 2 is officially in the works.**
It will release more slowly than Volume 1, since we’re moving past the backlog and into brand‑new material, but the journey continues. The next volume will explore deeper emotional threads, new dynamics, and the consequences of everything that unfolded in Chapter 15.

          Thank you for reading.
          Thank you for caring.
And thank you for giving this story a place to land.

          Onward to Volume 2.

Day 1 is complete! From Shino’s lonely walk past The Pentagon to Miku’s quiet “I already thought of you that way,” the exposure arc has closed with fragile hope. Chapter 4 (Tomorrow. 7:45.) ends on a promise and a dual goodnight, setting the stage for Day 2. Thank you for reading — the season premiere is done, and the real fight begins next.

Day 1 isn’t finished yet — but the titles already hide a pattern.

Too Bright. Seen Too Clearly. I’ll Be Counting on You.

Together, they sketch the start of Shino’s journey: the shock of being noticed, the discomfort of being understood, and the first step toward trust.

It’s not the end of the day yet — the walk home and evening reflection still wait — but the thread is already visible. A quiet “exposure trilogy” unfolding beneath the slice‑of‑life chaos.

          More to come soon.
