I’m honestly feeling really frustrated with writing anime fanfiction because some readers seem to want everything spoon-fed instead of actually reading what’s on the page. So let me clarify this once—and consider it a gentle warning: my storytelling style relies heavily on subtext. That’s a core element of mystery writing in general.

This isn’t meant to offend anyone, but if subtext feels confusing, it might help to read more conventional novels to get a better sense of how subtle storytelling works. When everything is spelled out explicitly, the writing stops feeling like art and starts reading like a science textbook—and that’s not the kind of story I want to create.

There's always going to be those readers who have something negative to say, but just know you have SO many more that love your stories and we don't want you to change your style one bit!! ❤

Honestly, what really annoys me about this site is how some readers think they can freely trash or nitpick every single word in a story — not about grammar, flow, or writing structure, but the actual sentences and details the writer chose. They act like being overly critical somehow makes them smarter. News flash: it doesn’t.

Writers are people too. I get it — people say, “Writers need to grow a thick skin.” Well, I did. I live in the real world, and my stories reflect the harsh reality I’ve lived through. But still, it’s exhausting to read comments that come off as cocky or just pointlessly nitpicky. It’s not constructive — it’s just annoying.

I have a blast reading, so I’m usually commenting however I’m feeling about it thus far xD

@Adele_morgan716 @Skyfelix14 Yeah I’ve seen both types of comments here on Wattpad. Tone matters greatly ✅

@ Adele_morgan716 but those bitches readers don't care though. They don't care if trashing my stories will personally discourage the author to write more stories

Sorry for ranting a bit—no offense—but I really disagree with the idea that my fiction is “too serious,” as if that automatically makes people lose interest. Maybe that’s true in some fandom spaces, but stories like mine are actually quite common in conventional novels or even on Wattpad—if people take the time to look, there are plenty of good ones out there.

I just want to challenge the stereotype that fanfiction is nothing more than poorly written smut or self-insert Mary Sue stories. That’s still how a lot of people in the “real world” see it, and it’s unfair to writers who actually put effort into crafting something meaningful.

What really frustrates me is when people act like I shouldn’t write what I love—or when readers make shallow assumptions, like saying “soft-spoken men must be gay.” Since when? That’s such a narrow and stereotypical way of thinking.

It’s not that I can’t handle constructive criticism—I’m always open to feedback about my grammar, pacing, or flow. But when it comes to my plot, emotional depth, or how I choose to portray the characters, those are things I’ve poured my time and heart into. Seeing people reduce that to clichés or dismiss it because it doesn’t fit their expectations is honestly disheartening.

Maybe that’s why I’ve been thinking about stepping away from fanfiction for a while, at least for my next story. Some of the recent comments have really drained the joy out of creating for me—and that’s something I never thought would happen.

JessKnitz

And yeah, the narrow-mindedness can get annoying

"Also, depending on where you’re writing on, don’t based you fic on how many likes, reads, comments, hits, etc. While this advice is common, don’t write your fanfic for other people, just yourself. Once you start writing for other people, it will start to feel like a chore. I know this goes against what I was saying earlier, somewhat. But if you do base your fic on the kudos, comments, etc, your confidence/self-esteem in your writing skills will go down."

Oh, thank God. I really needed this advice — and honestly, I think it’s something everyone who wants to experiment more in fiction needs to hear, too. Trust me, you’ll find the right audience soon.

I’m 30 now, a mom with a baby, and of course, I can’t really write high school AUs anymore. My writing has grown with my age — not in terms of intimacy, but in emotional depth, realism, and the kinds of themes I want to explore. Still, I keep reminding myself that I started from a place of writing what I love. ;)

Reading your book honestly feels like watching a movie, every chapter has its own rhythm and mood, shifting so naturally from funny and domestic to emotional or tense. It’s never limited to just one genre, and that’s what makes it so refreshing. It feels more like a complete novel than a typical fanfic.

What I love most is how you handle the characters. You understand them deeply and stay true to their canon personalities, even when you place them in modern or more mature settings. You don’t change who they are, you expand them. That’s why your story feels so genuine and human, like we’re watching these characters truly grow, live, and breathe beyond their original world.

Alright, here we go - Miss Haruno Sakura enters the scene in Chapter 08. Good luck uncovering the Uchiha brothers shenanigans, Imao.
From here on, I'I| post whenever I feel like it. And don't aive up halfwav through - there are always twists waiting to haunt you at night. That's the point of this aenre: it's meant to make vou uneasv. No one feels all warm and fuzzy after watching "The Shining", right?
If vou're looking for something cozy, easy, and fluffy - there are plentv of fluff stories out there
But this one? It dives deep into the chaos behind the scenes - the Hollywood-esque scandals, the kind of childhood fame that twists into adult trauma, and why so many child actors grow up troubled
So, whatever you do - don't skip a chapter. Every piece matters.
Yeah. it's fanfiction -- but underneath it all. it's a psychological thriller about what fame does to people - the rot behind the spotliaht. I'm iust borrowing these characters to tell the kind of story I'd want to write on mv own someday

@JessKnitz But it doesn't mean I can't add fluff to my writing: it's just that I like mixing genres, and it depends on whether the scene needs to be fluffy or not. Right now, that's what my imagination was/is nspired by. Next, maybe I will be inspired by fluffy books or experiences in my life that give me the urge to write fluff. Personally I like my OTP to be happy and joyous, but when it comes to writing it depends with what imagination formed in my head. Again, who knows. But thanks for sharing your thoughts and perspective with me (and for responding to my blabbering). I really appreciate it.

@JessKnitz Oh, I get it. I guess it’s just personal taste — I’m really into psychological thrillers, horror, and true crime, so even when I’m happy, I lean toward emotionally complex stories. I’m at my best writing grounded, sharp dialogue, betrayal, and rivalry, because I like stakes and risk. I also love comedy and blunt exchanges; there’s a strange comfort in the unpredictability. That’s why irony, dark humor, and tension feel more satisfying to me than pure sweetness.

Maybe that’s my kind of “fluff” — finding warmth in chaos, softness in imperfection, and connection in the middle of conflict.

Happy Halloween y'all!

My new story that I worked on last year has been published! This is my first psychological horror/thriller/gothic fiction. Please kindly check it out ;)

          Summary:

Years later, the neighbors still whisper about the two brothers who live up on the hill. They say Itachi Uchiha, the famous movie star, still haunts that grand old house—his once-brilliant career destroyed by a mysterious accident. Others claim he was sent overseas to recover. And they insist it was his younger brother, Sasuke, behind the wheel that night. Drunk. Reckless.

After the crash, Itachi simply vanished from the world.

That’s what the rumors say, at least.

But when Sakura—an ordinary girl from the neighborhood—gets closer to the truth behind the Uchihas’ glittering façade, she discovers that their real story is far darker than anything they ever performed for the camera.

Taylor Swift on Wood:
“Girls, I don't need to catch the bouquet,
To know a hard rock is on the way.
And baby, I'll admit I've been a little SUPERSTITIOUS
The curse on me was broken by your magic wand
Seems to be that you and me, we make our own luck
New Heights (New Heights) of manhood
I ain't gotta knock on wood”

I know this song is about Travis, but Taylor also made an effing soundtrack for my fanfiction "SUPERSTITIOUS" too (this is just a joke lol)
