The author/the name behind it all

Sonika/Nika Gem/The Gem Mind.
I love all my names. Sonika means "true beauty & Golden." However, the moniker "Nika Gem" is me essentially saying I'm rare. It's my writing and social media handles for that reason. I also have "the Gem Mind," which is an ode to God, a page I blog on and share my experiences since I gave my life to God.

Why I Write
I am an avid reader. I read EVERYTHING. I love world history, some romances, geography, and I'll read a couple of mystery books. If anything has two versions, I would rather read it than watch it. I never knew how to express my emotions growing up and the more I read the more I thought to myself "hey I can do that too"  I started writing notes (before I discovered my talent), then short stories, then poetry to let loose and release my emotions.

What I write
I believe that as artists, where singers, songwriters, writers, and creators are concerned, they depict the world around them as a way towards relatability, and of course you tell the story even better. I am saved, and therefore my profile features stories capturing Christlike experiences, characters, and environments.

I will, however, be honest and say this is not my ministry, as my works can be abstract; this is my outlet towards expression, my creativity, my talent, which I still hope is impactful and will open someone's eyes to the life I depict or live and the God whom I serve.
