If you’re writing fanfiction, don’t underestimate the power of the fandom. Let the community know you’re creating something based on a celebrity or character they love. Many readers will check it out simply because of who it’s about.

For example, After didn’t become popular only because of the writing in the beginning. It gained traction because it was a Harry Styles fanfiction during the height of One Direction’s fame. It included all the members and had enough content to really hook people in.

You can make TikTok videos about your story or share it in fandom spaces on Reddit and Instagram. Fans are often eager to support stories that reflect their favorite stars.

There are user generated award shop you can join. Which can create more audience and have you praise for your writing. And even if you don’t win you still got someone new to check out your story so that is a plus. This is some current award shops:

Also you can join book clubs that can help a lot. These allow you to do read-for-read exchanges in a structured, respectful way. And I suggest finding a book you enjoy and ask your partner if they don’t mind staying partners with you. That give you someone to grow with you as you write.

These are some book clubs that offer monitored R4R exchanges and help build steady readership:

          https://www.wattpad.com/story/371061429-aurelia-book-club-open

          https://www.wattpad.com/story/316348344-celestine-book-club-open

          https://www.wattpad.com/story/356715361-dreamland-guilds

And try promote on social media: TikTok, Instagram, and Reddit are great platforms to share your story and connect with readers who love your genre.

You can try to do V4V by creating a posts or commenting on someone who did. And to be honest V4V are not always authentic, they can give your story a small boost in ratings if you’re just starting out.

I had to split the message since it’s a limit. Anyway dont forget Wattpad doesn’t automatically promote most stories unless you’re already popular or part of the Wattpad Originals program. That means many readers may not even know your story exists unless you actively promote it. And with so many stories sharing similar titles, it can be hard to stand out unless someone knows your username or you provide a direct link.

There are several ways to improve your story’s visibility and grow your audience:
Submit your story to review shops. You’ll get constructive feedback and insights into how readers perceive your story. And an extra reader on your story.

These are some review shops you can join and I am currently running one as well:

These may be some of the reasons you’re struggling with getting reads.

These may be some of the reasons why you are and some stuff that can help.

If you’ve written stories before and left them unfinished for months or even years, that might be affecting your readership. It’s completely okay to stop writing a story if you’re no longer enjoying it. You’re entitled to do that.

But it’s important to understand that when this happens more than once, readers may lose trust. They’ll remember, and it can make them hesitant to invest in your future work.

If this is your first story and you’ve just started publishing, the problem likely isn’t that your writing is bad but it’s more about building trust.

Many readers on Wattpad have been let down by great stories that were never completed. So when a new writer appears with no track record, readers often hesitate. They’re worried the story might be abandoned, and they don’t want to get emotionally invested only to be left hanging.

Another important factor is your update schedule. Are you posting regularly? Which means are you posting on the same day or around the same time each week? If not, readers may wait for more chapters to pile up before reading, or they may simply forget about your story.

If your posting every couple of months (or even less often) can make readers wary. A consistent update schedule shows commitment and builds reader confidence.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to sincerely apologize for my sudden absence. I’ve been dealing with some personal things and needed to step away from the internet for a bit. I know I should’ve communicated that, and I’m truly sorry for not giving you all a heads-up. When life gets overwhelming, I tend to shut down and forget how important communication really is. I appreciate your patience and understanding. I’m back now and ready to catch up.

hey!! i hope everything is okay! this is completely understandable and there is no need to apologize, everyone needs a break sometimes! i’m just glad you’re back❤️

If you like the style of reviews I’m currently offering, I highly recommend checking out this review shop. They also offer to create others stories as “payment story” which is a thoughtful touch. I genuinely think it’s worth giving a try.

@StarlitShop then the fear of my book just not being right (taste wise) ive read over what you've listed as far as dirty stuff, no kid stuff (age regression) or (parent/kid/teacher kid/ stuff) and no smutt...idk sometimes the weirdest things terrify me. If you have something you want me to read send it and ill read it. I do struggle with romance without plot ill still try, what your groups do for people is really something and thank you for it.
