Meet James Talon Stone. He is your boring sixteen year old, emo kid. He has divorced parents, an abusive mother whom he lives with, and a druggie/alcoholic father that got put into an insane asylum. He has no one to feel his sympathy either, except one. His next door neighbor and best friend, Carson Summers. She is an optimistic girl who really is willing to comfort him, which moved Talon. He has loved ever since the second grade; when they first met. She is the only light in his life. After one day where Talon got into a fight with a gang on their block, he and Carson came home to find his mother... murdered, in the master bathroom. Talon's chances in succeeding in life are growing slim. But, everything just gets worse when he begins to receive text messages from his mother's killer... saying that... the killer is after him.

Sakura Jensen was a Caucasian girl born and raised in Okinawa, Japan. Her parents were born in America but traveled to Okinawa and fell in love. Sakura thinks its the sweetest story, and at the age of five, she decides she wants to fall in love underneath the same Japanese cherry blossom tree that her parents did. After Sakura's first four years of living in Japan, her parents decide to go back to the United States to where they were born. Sakura always wondered why. When she turned eighteen, she decided to take vacation back to Okinawa, but she saw an unpleasant surprise when she visited the cherry blossom tree. A man was curled in a fetal position, broken and bleeding. He cried out, “It was hell! It was hell!” Sakura helped him as best as she could. After he left, she noticed that an intricate pair of spectacles were on the ground where he had laid, so she assumed they were his. Out of curiosity, she put them on. But, the sight she saw through them was a horrible surprise.
