Who else is excited for the ONC longlist to drop soon — because I’m already hedging my bets that this novella by @EvelynHail is a shoo‑in. The opener is lush. The first chapter is so descriptive it immediately locks in the tone: a world swallowed by shadow, a girl sent on a mission she can’t refuse, and a prince whose light is both her target and her undoing. It’s rich without being heavy, the kind of worldbuilding that feels lived‑in from the first paragraph. @vividaway I will if I get through my lengthy TBR list - I still have 150+ to read. I've read through close to 200 ONC entries already while I was writing my own - but that was because I knew Muddy and Me would not enter the Watty's as I can't expand on it without diluting the work. I still have a few books to recommend. so maybe another 1 to 2 weeks and unless I read more that will be it. Because now I'm busy developing an entire 5 book series, even though I haven't written the first book hahahhahaha!
