            You could nerf y/n’s sembelance by being a weaker form of other semblances he see’s or he can temporarily “steal” someone semblance as he can use someone’s sembelance while they can’t, as he wants people to acknowledge him as sembelance = soul = greatest desire
            
            He would’ve unlocked his semblances after his brother or friend saved him from Grimm 
            
            I wanted y/n to be kinda like a puppy who wanted attention and support but after receiving little to none he hardens but still tried and hoped to achieve acknowledgement and care from somebody.
