Dear editor, 
          I find your tips very helpful, though not exactly "soft" around the edges. 
          I just wanted to bring it to your attention that some authors might find your comments offending or uncomfortable the way you phrase it. 
          Though there will be others who might appreciate your honesty, please keep in mind that words, can be misinterpreted and can also hurt.

Nah, it's okay man. I understand, most authors actually need this extra honesty if they'd want to be more known...

            I apologize for sounding harsh, I struggle with seeing it as tough love because I love all writing. I clearly need to work on my tone, as you are not the only one to have complained.
