Hey folks, hope you're having a good day. If you're not, I'm sending my thoughts and prayers.
"So, what's the news?" you might think if you even bother to read this. "Has she broken her teeth again?" Well no. I have some really good and depressing news.
Today is The Heir's first birthday wooooo and the story is still not over. Ugh.
I'll let you in on a little secret, I have been pantsing this the whole time. Literally. Like a year ago, somewhere in Jan '23, I finished The Forest Turned Grey, and decided I'd give myself a few months holiday. Well, I was going crazy without writing and opened Notion and was like "The Vascoran Forest #3". Then I got a few vibes and came up with a start and an end. But I had no idea how to bridge that. And I really wanted to ship Tyler with someone, but it had to be a new character. So, I went over to Fantasy Name Generator and got something to work with.
Then I wrote a chapter. And one day later I came up with a name and published that one chapter.
And now I'm here. I really hate the book, but it won't sit well with me if I don't give it and end. Over the course of TVF, you can see how my writing develops, and how I went from absolute beginner to almost amateur writer. And if this story goes in the trash, then all the hard work 11-year-old me put into this would go to waste.
So that's why I'm still here. Writing and publishing even though no one reads this. Because this is my craft that I somehow happened to like, And I gave up so much for it. And even if the outcome of the craft doesn't have the best life, it at least deserves one.
A reader gives a bit of money to buy a book, and the book becomes only a part of their life. To the writer, that book is their whole life. Yeah. I don't know why I suddenly remembered this.
See you next time! Here's a kiwi for your troubles .
