Thought Corner: Story problems
Sometimes, writing stories is confusing and frustrating. I have a very long one that I'm in the process of writing, but I haven't released any of it yet because I want to go back over and edit it. However, I've done that multiple times now, taking out and/or adding characters and events. There's always something that I want to change or improve in the story, so much that I've stopped writing it in favor of simply going back and revising the entire thing. The thing is, I really like the story, but I have those moments where I think, 'It could be better'. Very frustrating indeed, and now, I'm thinking that it would be better if I just re-wrote it all. But the way I want to redo it looses complete focus of the original idea, so I might be able to just create a whole new one based off of the same idea, but then again they might be too similar to do that. Also, the original story is quite long - about 80 official chapters, plus side stories that I'd like to incorporate into the book (And I still have a lot more that I want to put into it) - so obviously it'd be a great waste to just trash the whole thing. But then again, it may be way too long already, and re-writing it into a shorter version might be best.
I don't know if I'll get much advice on this, if any at all. But, if you could, help a writer out?
