I was born in Cheshire in the north of England. I was educated at Northwich Grammar School for Girls before it changed to a comprehensive school. I then went on to teacher training in Manchester at Elizabeth Gaskell College where I studied Science as a main subject with English Literature and Maths as subsidiaries. 
My first teaching post was in Salford and I then moved to Rochdale and taught at Heywood in Lancashire. After having my family and spending time out of teaching, I was then living in Hampshire as my husband was working at Southampton University. I returned to teaching and taught maths and computer studies (as it was then called). When we moved from Hampshire I began teaching in Croydon, Surrey, where I worked for 20 years until I took early retirement.
Since then I have occupied myself with writing and also Art and Crafts of various kinds.
