I love poetry, thriller, comedy, romantic/drama, fact and war.. some of my favourite series are The Lord of The Rings, Dark Tower, Harry Potter, Discworld and Peter Rabbit.
When you read The Fellowship at age 12 you know you are going to be hooked on books for the rest of your life... anything history related will usually catch my attention.
