This may sound super cheesy, but I don’t care.
For those of you who have been with me since high school, the first fan fictions about a certain Colorado Avalanche hockey player, hockey still holds such a special place in my heart.
Gabriel Landeskog, the man who started my fan fiction writing journey, is making his return to hockey after THREE YEARS due to a knee injury. I watched his AHL debut last night, his first game since winning the Stanley Cup. The emotions I felt for this man, so worried that he would never play another game of hockey. He has fought through so many battles and has faced adversity and setbacks. To say I am SO PROUD of my captain is an understatement.
But in a weird way, I want to say thank you to Gabe for sparking my movement. In my sophomore year I took a risk, beginning to write a story I had thought up in my head, wondering if anyone would read it. I wrote three books to that series, and then another separate book about him. I believe I owe my love of writing to Gabe, because if this little high school girl didn’t have a crush on him, my life would definitely be different.
It also has part of me wanting to pick up Love Game once again, but I hardly even have time for WTHI, so that is definitely a shot in the dark.
Seeing him step back onto that ice ignited the spark for the game of hockey, the game I grew up loving, and the love of my Colorado Avalanche.
But the morale of this post is, it doesn’t matter how many times you’ve been knocked down, YOU CAN GET BACK UP!
Love y’all. <3
