I'm writing a pearlshipping longfic
Divinity Status (12/14/25):
This year has been a trainwreck for me on several levels and I am only potentially seeing the end of my struggle now. Lost my regular job that was my primary source of income, had to kick out my tenant living in my home that I've moved out of to save money, and spent all my free time and what money I had to get the place cleaned up and ready for a property management company to take it over. 3000 dollars in repairs (never mind the house payments) and constant grueling labor later, it's done, someone will be moving in in January and the property manager will make it as stress-free as possible for me.
I HAVE done a lot of writing this year thanks to downtime at my job, the trouble is that it was only ever what came easiest to me to write in my often sleep-deprived state. Action sequences (that typically require two smart characters in a 'dance' of combat) are virtually impossible for me to handle in such a mood and that's what has actually been holding up the fic. And I have 5 different stories in my head (three original, 1 other fanfic in another universe I am slow-cooking the work on) and so I have put time into some of them so at least I was doing something and not feeling as much of a failure as I typically do.
The draft for the next chapter is close to done. But that action sequence needs to be written out and then I can start on the second draft and revision work.
I wish this fic wasn't taking as long as it is. I can only do so much.
