[SPOILER ALERT] part 5

And then there's Edward William, an ex-soldier who fought with Violet once and prisoned because of war crimes.
I don't like this insane guy one bit. With how he eyed Violet with sexual stares and such. And his crimes are so fucked up. But this chapter is still worth your time, heck every chapter is.

The first volume end with how Gilbert 'died' (yeah this boi is alive and I'll review it in the next chance after I finish volume 2).
The anime only points how Gilbert give Violet sad stares right? Well if you yearn for more sadness with such detail, you need to read the novel. It doesn't only cover Gilbert's feelings and thoughts, but also the background of his story, like the Bougainvillea family and his brother, Dietfried.

In the end, I wanna say,
The anime is more realistic, and hands down amazing, 100000/10.
The novel is more fantasy, but also hands down amazing. It doesn't only have the tear jerking scene, but also the fucked up scenes.
The anime may only covered the after war and a lil of when war started. But the novel covers before, when, and after war. It doesn't censor the fucked up things, like how men wanted to molest young Violet so many times but ended up being killed by Violet, and how Dietfried showed Gilbert about how Violet is only a weapon with ordering her to kill 5 men who infiltrate Dietfried's ship.
Violet Evergarden is lovely, creepy, fucked up, beautiful. There's no words that can perfectly describe this series.

[SPOILER ALERT] part 4

AND THERE'S MY BABY BOY, LEON STEPHANOTIS. This chapter maybe served as a refreshment, but don't think there won't be heavy feelings in it. It does contains a lot of blushing and funny comments. I love how Leon blushed so much when he's near Violet. I love how Leon's colleagues thought that Leon is gay because he despise women so much, and how they say, "it's like we're the parents and we're watching our son growing up". And I absolutely love love love! How Leon confessed to Violet with saying "to the hell with it! I'll confess my feelings now!" (the anime didn't include this which kinda pissed me off).
I love this chapter. It sends me giggling and squealing like a fan girl.
And I love the extra in this chapter. I thought it'll end just like in the anime, when Violet finally left Leon. But in the novel, Leon and Violet did meet again! And Leon still love Violet, but decided to put his feelings aside and watch the night sky with her.

[SPOILER ALERT] part 3 (I kinda hate u wattpad)

It hurts, reading her screaming how her mother didn't love her, and how her mother is so innocent that she needs to protect her. It breaks my heart so much that she's just a child.
And I love how much she grew up from it.
As you may know from the anime, the CH postal sent her a letter every year on her birthday, it was Ann's mother's letter. In the novel, Ann's mother didn't only give Ann letters, but also presents. She gave Ann a big teddy bear on the eighth birthday, heck she even gave Ann a car on her... I forgot what birthday, but it's so cool! I learned that even though Ann's mother is really lady-like, but there's her rebellious side, her free side that she loved to share with her daughter even when she's already gone. She didn't give Ann any advice about how she should live, she only said that she should live just the way Ann wants to, because it's Ann's life, and she will always be happy with Ann's choices. In the end, Ann did live happily with her family, and said that she won't forget Violet until she died.

[SPOILER ALERT] part 2

Then there's Ann Magnolia, who needs to take care of her mother when she's only 7 years old.
I love this character so much, especially after I read her story in the novel. The anime may portrait her as a young girl who struggled to be okay while her mother was sick, without losing the point that she's a strong young girl. But the novel is better than that. Ann Magnolia loves her mother, almost yandere-ish. I'm not saying that she wants to kill someone for her mother, but what I'm trying to say is that she loved her mother so much and she's the one who's been protecting her mother for so long. Ann's mother was portrayed as an innocent woman who likes ribbons and frills, because she was sick, she always loves some company, even though they're bad people who only eyed on the Magnolia's richness. Ann knew everything, about the bad people, about her mother's illness, about how short her mother's life is. She knew so much things in such a young age, only 7 years old. That's why I said that she's strong. But still, like how the novel perfectly said, she's just a child. No matter how strong she is, how she tries to protect her mother, how she tries to not be jealous when Violet came and take the time of her mother, she's just a child who suffered pain from the burden of reality. Because she knew that her mother is short lived, she wants to be with her all the time.

[SPOILER ALERT] part 1

I know I've been saying a lot about Violet Evergarden, showing how much I love this anime and how worthy it is to take your time and life for thinking of it. Now, I've been starting to read the light novel, which I print it myself because I can't afford to get the original one. I've seen some reviews about the light novel, how people saying it was more fantasy, while the anime is more realistic. And I can't agree more. The light novel is indeed illogical sometimes, like Violet always brings her battle axe that was bigger than her and sort of stuff. But I can also say that it's hella good, it's great, it's amazing, it's wonderful. My love for this series just grew even more, and it aches a lot.

I have only read the volume 1, and it already sent me to a jetcoaster of feelings, just like how the anime did.

There's Oscar Webster, the scriptwriter who lost his daughter and wife because of illness. While the anime only covered the story of him and his daughter, the novel also included his wife and another person who played an important part in the Webster's family. Oscar's wife is ill from the start, and she hid it from him because she's afraid Oscar will call off the marriage. But Oscar loved her so much, that he's blaming himself for not knowing this from the mouth of his wife, but from his wife's best friend after she leaves him with their daughter. The wife's best friend did help to take care of Oscar and his daughter for some time. And when they knew that the daughter also had the same illness as her mother (because it was inherited), they went to many hospitals. But unfortunately, the wife's best friend slowly backed off until finally disappeared, and Oscar's daughter couldn't be saved.
It was tear jerking, just like the anime. But the novel had a tiny bit of humour in it, since Oscar never thought that Violet is really a human (he thought that she's an android). Oh and Violet is a great cook in the novel.
