            Billy growls in response, sending another harsh glare her way. she’s been trying to rile him up all night and while usually he doesn’t let it get to him — Neil got him particularly pissy earlier that day and he came to this party to vent some steam. Cherry was doing the opposite for him.
            
            he leans back against the wall and takes another sip of the beer he’d been nursing. only his third and it’s been at least 2 hours now. it’s hot and stuffy and people keep elbowing him — he may just kick someone’s ass.

            Billy lets out a soft snort as he brings a lit cigarette between his teeth, eyes flicking around the place with curiosity. he exhales with billowing smoke.

            hannah soaked up the praise like a sponge , her eyes bright as she happily returned his kiss , her hands finding his shoulders as people glanced their way as they walked by .
            
            she nodded excitedly at the pampered question before she interlocked their fingers as they walked , she kept her eyes peeled as she glanced through glass and store fronts . 
            
            this continued for a few more beats before she perked up . pet adoption shelter ? in the middle of a plaza ? her walking slowed down a tad as she looked at the sign .

            Billy laughs as she practically clambers out of the window to look at the cows better, his hand grasping the back of her top to keep her steady as she leans out. he gets a pretty good view of her ass from this angle..
            
            Billy slows down and parks, clicking off his own seatbelt and giving a pointed look her way. he looks proud when she remembers and stays in her seat.
            
            “ good girl, angel. “
            
            he praises as he gets off. he rounds the car and opens up the passenger seat, taking her hand and helping her out. he closes the door and hooks an arm around her waist, tugging her in to place a firm kiss on her mouth.
            
            “ come on pretty thing. let’s get you pampered, yeah? “
            
            and with that, he leads her along the strip of boutiques and stores that stretch as far as they can see.

            hannah would excitedly point . ` ` oh sugar look ! ! thet have the cows out again at that barn ! ` ` she unbuckled her seat belt for a moment , rolling the window down and peeking herself out . excitedly watching them . 
            
            after they drove past them however she found herself sitting again and buckling up . soon watching the buildings pass on and on until they finally made it to the plaza . 
            
            hannah unbuckled herself once more , went to open her door and stopped . she knew better then to open her own door , last time she did , he had scooped her right back up and put her back in the car , so she decided to behave , for now .

            Billy’s face is pinched up in concentration as he gently prods her wrist.
            
            “ move it for me, pretty? just wanna see how bad it is. “
            
            he’s broken enough bones to know what demands a hospital trip or not. either way he may just drag her out to the emergency room to ease his own worries but it’ll at least help him relax some to see if it isn’t broken.
            
            “ doesn’t seem broken, nothings out of place.. if anything we just have to ice it — wrap it, maybe. you’ll have to be extra light on work. “
            
            not that he ever lets her lift a finger for anything heavy, of course. if she’s got a heavy purse or shopping bags or luggage — he’s the guy to call. the heaviest and has to lift is her fancy little drinks and her phone.

            hannah frowned before her attention was dropped back to her own pain the moment his fingers grazed the purple blotches . she hissed a bit . 
            
            ` ` hurt ' s . . quite a bit . ` ` she admitted as she sighed . ` ` it ' s probably sprained . . do you think the emergency room is really necessary ? ` ` she would question .
            
            the kiss to her wrist soothed her a bit , her eyes softening as she frowned . ` ` i ' m sorry , sugar . . if i had known the meet and greet would go like this i would have called you over sooner . ` ` she explained gently .

            Billy watches the guy scramble away with a prideful puff of his chest and huff through his nose like some bull. his attention is quickly drawn in by her and his expression softens.
            
            “ hey, hey — don’t worry about me, angel. “
            
            he murmurs, instead taking her forearm between calloused fingers to examine the bruising on her wrist. he sucks his teeth and frowns, thumb carefully grazing over the purpling of her pale skin.
            
            “ should’ve broke his fuckin’ wrist.. look at you. how bad’s it hurt, pretty? need to go to the emergency room? we should go. could’ve hurt you bad — damn. “
            
            he was blaming himself. he should’ve been right there with her — then he wouldn’t have ever bothered to try. he dips down and presses a feather light kiss on her wrist. 
            
            “ fuck, Hannah. getting hurt like this doesn’t make me wanna let you outta my sight, yknow. “

            instinctively his hands slid to settle on her hips when she shifted on his lap, getting herself comfortable. he tilts his head down to meet her gaze, breath trembling when her soft hands touch his face.
            
            he’s quiet for a beat as he listens to her talk, all sweet and melodic and coaxing — she’s been right since day one, he should’ve called her siren instead.
            
            “ you’d want that? “
            
            he asks, voice low and rumbly. he leans in just enough to nudge their foreheads together.
            
            “ I’m.. I ain’t the best to be around for too long, angel. could be too much of a good thing. “ 
            
            he’s half joking. deep down he really is worried somehow, someway, he’ll fuck it all up. he’s never had something good like this. nothing that he hasn’t thrown away himself to keep all parties safe.

            hannah thought as she had her eyes closed . . what could she do to keep him closer during her time here . . there had to be something . something she could come up with that would — . . then . . light bulb . 
            
            she opened her eyes and hummed as he kissed her jaw . ` ` what if you didn ' t have to stay away while i worked . ` ` she turned her body , straddling his lap now , legs on either side of him . ` ` what if you worked here . . with me . ` ` her eyes went bright , hands reaching to cup his face .
            
            ` ` i could always use a certain someone who can look — and has looked , over me . . ` `  her eyes stayed on his , the baby blue sinking deeper into his blues as she cocked her head just slightly . ' ' what do you say ?? ` `

            Billy, never one to resist his temptations, took her tilted head as invitation. he presses another light kiss, followed by another and another until his nose is grazing her neck and his mouth is lingering on the soft skin of her throat. delicate like every other part of her. 
            
            how easily she melted into him, encouraged his sweet words and flirtations. whether it was all a part of the cat and mouse chase for them he didn’t care — not if it got her like this for him. though of course if she pushed him away or asked him to stop he would. he wasn’t a monster. 
            
            but when she didn’t and even seemed to be more pliant on his lap with his ministrations, he kissed at her jaw. murmured against her skin.
