“Like I’m finally starting to break free from my past,” she admitted, her gaze drifting to the horizon where the ocean met the sky. “I’ve spent so long feeling trapped by my memories. But here, with you all, it feels like I can breathe again.”
Ren nodded, his expression thoughtful. “It’s okay to take your time. Healing isn’t a race. Just remember, you have people who care about you now.”
Sakura turned to him, her heart racing at the sincerity in his eyes. “I know. And that means more to me than I can express. You’ve been my anchor, Ren.”
Before he could respond, Ria and Nami returned, panting and giggling, their faces flushed from the excitement. “We need a rematch!” Nami declared. “But this time, let’s make it a team race!”
“Team race?” Sakura raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “How do you propose we do that?”
“Simple! You and Ren against me and Ria!” Nami exclaimed, his enthusiasm contagious.
Sakura exchanged a glance with Ren, who shrugged with a playful grin. “I’m in if you are.”
“Alright, let’s do this!” Sakura felt a rush of adrenaline as they all lined up at the water’s edge, the cool waves lapping at their feet.
“On three!” Nami shouted, her voice cutting through the night air. “One… two… three!”
They took off, laughter echoing as they raced through the water, splashing and cheering each other on. Sakura felt alive, the thrill of competition igniting a fire within her. With Ren by her side, she felt invincible.
As they reached the finish line, breathless and exhilarated, Sakura couldn’t help but laugh. “That was amazing! I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun!”
