folks on tiktok do NOT understand sirius black’s character in OOTP. sirius definitely DEFINITELY saw harry as a copy of james and wanted to treat him as an equal rather than a child. which, of course, a man wrongfully imprisoned for 12 years and then forced to hide out in his abusers’ home would have some significant issues as a result of those circumstances. it was probably very confusing to be sent to unholy demon torture prison right after your best friend was murdered and then when you finally get out his son is there, looking/acting just like him. but the tragedy of sirius and harry is that they fundamentally misunderstood each other. harry wanted a parental figure/a connection with someone who knew his parents, and sirius suffered genuine arrested development and wanted to be 16 with his best friend again. the movies really sweetened their relationship. in the books sirius is much more brusque and mopey because he’s stuck in grimmauld place, and his interactions with harry are not nurturing or tender like the movies show. anyway all of this is because i saw someone say that molly weasley had no right to try and protect harry from the war/the order and that sirius was right for encouraging him. genuinely no.
